Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan Appointed as New Judges in the Supreme Court
The Central Government on Thursday approved the appointment of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan as judges in the Supreme Court.
The collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had recommended their names on May 16.
The Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday issued a notification informing about the appointment of Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan.
According to the notification “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra, Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Shri Kalapati Venkataraman Vishwanathan as Judges of the Supreme Court of India.”
Senior Advocate KV Viswanathan was earlier Additional Solicitor General.
Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra is currently the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
